Getting Started

Registration

The Wellington Soccer Association (WSA) uses the GotSport platform for all player registrations. To begin the process, visit our Registration page and follow the appropriate link for your child's program.

You will need to create a family (parent) account in the GotSport system and then add your children as players. For each child, you will be asked to upload a current headshot-style photo and a copy of their birth certificate.

Player placement is determined strictly by birth year, not school grade. If you have any questions about the registration process or need assistance at any point, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Registration Fees

Registration fees are based on the age division in which your child is placed. These fees will be displayed during the registration process and are securely processed through the GotSport platform.

Fees collected by WSA are used to cover a variety of essential costs. These include league fees, insurance, referee payments, coach background checks and training, tournament fees, equipment purchases, advertising, and team-related expenses such as end-of-season parties. Each team rostered in the league also requires a fee, as does each individual player.

Please note that registration fees do not include the cost of uniforms for U9 through U15 players. Uniforms for these divisions must be purchased separately.

Equipment Requirements

Each player will need to bring appropriate soccer gear to all practices and games. This includes soccer cleats (without toe cleats), shin guards (worn underneath socks), and a properly sized soccer ball labeled with the player’s name. Kick Start players should use a size 3 ball, players in U7 through U12 should use a size 4, and players in U13 through U15 should use a size 5. A labeled water bottle is also recommended.

Soccer Seasons

WSA offers both fall and spring soccer seasons. The fall season typically begins with practices in early August, with games running through late October. The spring season generally starts in early to mid-April, with games continuing through early June.

Any season-specific updates or changes to format—particularly for U9 and older divisions—will be shared on the homepage when available.

Practices and Games

Teams usually practice two weeknights per week. Practice schedules are determined after teams are rostered and are based on field availability and coach preference. Some coaches may offer additional practices as needed.

U7 through U15 teams play eight games per season. Most games are scheduled on Saturdays through the Lorain County Soccer League. In addition to one scheduled weekday game, make-up games may be held during the week as needed.

Volunteering with WSA

The Wellington Soccer Association is a volunteer-led organization, and we rely on the involvement of our families to keep our programs running smoothly. There are many ways to get involved, whether as a primary coach, secondary coach, concession stand helper, or board or committee member.

We welcome and appreciate all forms of support—no prior experience is required. If you're interested in volunteering, please let us know.

If you have any questions about registration, fees, equipment, scheduling, or volunteering, please reach out to us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. We look forward to another successful and rewarding soccer season.
